TERMS OF SERVICE

Last updated: August 10, 2026

CONTENTS

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the MotoSema mobile application ("App", "Service"), developed by HEDX Studios. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and HEDX Studios.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MotoSema, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. Your use of the App signifies your acceptance of these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Description of Service

MotoSema is a mobile application designed for motorcycle riders to:

  • Track rides: record route, distance, duration, and speed
  • Monitor lean angles: display real-time motorcycle lean angle using device sensors
  • Detect speed limits: show speed limits based on GPS location and OpenStreetMap data stored on your device
  • Analyze riding: provide statistics and insights about riding behavior
  • Improve technique: offer feedback on cornering and riding skills
  • Emergency crash detection: detect potential crashes and alert emergency contacts

Speed limit data works offline. You download map data for the regions you ride in, and the App reads it on your device — your location is not sent anywhere to look up a speed limit. The App is provided as-is and is intended for personal, non-commercial use to help riders track and improve their riding.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Device Mounting

You are responsible for securely mounting your device to your motorcycle, ensuring the mount does not obstruct your view or controls, choosing an appropriate mounting location, and regularly checking that the device remains secure. We are not responsible for damage to your device due to improper mounting or riding conditions.

3.2 Accurate Calibration

For accurate lean angle readings, calibrate sensors when the mounting position changes, ensure the bike is upright and level during calibration, and recalibrate if readings seem incorrect. Inaccurate calibration may result in incorrect lean angle measurements.

3.3 Legal Compliance

You agree to comply with all local traffic laws and regulations, ride within the legal speed limit, not use speed limit information as permission to exceed limits, and take full responsibility for your riding decisions. MotoSema does not encourage or endorse speeding or dangerous riding.

4. Proper Use of the App

4.1 Permitted Use

You may use MotoSema to track your personal motorcycle rides, monitor your riding statistics, improve your riding technique, and view speed limits for informational purposes.

4.2 Prohibited Use

You may NOT:

  • Use the App while actively operating your motorcycle (interacting with the screen)
  • Rely solely on the App for speed limit information
  • Use the App to encourage or facilitate illegal activities
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the App
  • Use the App for commercial purposes without permission
  • Share or publish other users' data without consent

4.3 Safe Usage

Safety first: configure the App before starting your ride. Do not interact with your phone while riding. Pull over safely if you need to make changes.

5. Safety Disclaimer

Riding a motorcycle is inherently dangerous. MotoSema is a tool to help track and analyze your riding, but it does not make riding safer and cannot prevent accidents.

The App is not a substitute for proper motorcycle training and licensing, wearing appropriate safety gear, maintaining your motorcycle, riding within your skill level, obeying traffic laws and signals, or using your own judgment and awareness.

Do not interact with your device while riding. Looking at your phone or adjusting settings while in motion is dangerous and may be illegal. The App provides information about your riding but does not monitor road conditions, traffic, or hazards, cannot detect obstacles or other vehicles, and does not replace your need to constantly scan your environment. Your safety is your responsibility. Ride defensively and within your limits.

6. Disclaimer of Liability

MotoSema is provided for informational and recreational purposes only. The app is designed for recording and analyzing motorcycle rides after completion, not for use as a primary information source while operating any vehicle. By using MotoSema, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You assume all risks associated with motorcycle riding and the use of this application
  • The developers and HEDX Studios are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or damages that may occur while using this app or any vehicle
  • You will not use this app as your primary source of information while actively operating a motorcycle or any vehicle

7. Speed Limit Data Disclaimer

Speed limit data displayed in MotoSema is sourced from OpenStreetMap (OSM), a community-maintained open database. This data is provided on a best-effort basis and is known to be incomplete. It is contributed by volunteers, coverage varies enormously between countries and even between roads in the same town, and many roads carry no recorded speed limit at all. Where MotoSema has no limit for the road you are on, it shows nothing — that is the data being honest, not the App failing.

We update the data regularly, currently about once a month. We do not guarantee any particular update frequency, nor that any given road or limit is present or correct.

The data on your device is a snapshot, not a live feed. A limit changed in OpenStreetMap yesterday will not reach your device until the next update. Speed limits shown are for general awareness only; users MUST always follow actual road signs and local traffic laws. MotoSema and HEDX Studios are not responsible for any consequences arising from reliance on OSM speed limit data.

Downloading and storing map data

  • Map data is downloaded from maps.motosema.com at your request, per region
  • Downloads can be large. A country typically ranges from under a megabyte to around 100 MB, and you choose when and over which connection to download
  • Data is stored on your device and counts towards a storage budget you control in Settings. Regions you have not ridden recently may be removed automatically to stay within it; your home region never is
  • You can delete downloaded map data at any time from Settings, without uninstalling the App
  • Updated data is offered, with its size shown, rather than downloaded silently

8. GPS Speed Disclaimer

The speed displayed in MotoSema is derived from your device's GPS sensor. Accuracy depends on your device hardware, GPS signal strength, and environmental conditions; readings may be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable in certain conditions (tunnels, urban canyons, poor weather). GPS speed is NOT a replacement for your vehicle's odometer or speedometer and is provided as supplementary information only. Users must rely on their vehicle's built-in speedometer for accurate speed readings. Using MotoSema's speed display as your primary speed reference is done entirely at your own risk and is not the intended use of this application.

9. Intended Use

MotoSema is designed for recording motorcycle rides and routes, post-ride analysis of telemetry data (lean angles, speed, route), tracking riding statistics and progress over time, and emergency crash detection and alert functionality.

MotoSema is NOT designed for use as a primary navigation system while riding, real-time speed monitoring for traffic law compliance, replacement of your vehicle's instrumentation, or use while actively operating any vehicle. Users must not interact with or rely on the app while operating a vehicle. All ride data should be reviewed after completing your ride in a safe location.

10. Accuracy of Information

10.1 Speed Limit Data

Speed limits are provided by OpenStreetMap, a community-maintained database. They may be inaccurate or out of date, may be missing for some roads, may not reflect temporary changes (construction zones, special events), and are a periodic snapshot stored on your device — updated regularly but not live, and supplied on a best-effort basis with no guarantee of completeness. Always obey posted speed limit signs.

10.2 Sensor Data

Lean angle and sensor readings depend on proper calibration, may be affected by device mounting position, require a secure and stable mount, and may have slight inaccuracies. Use sensor data as a general guide, not precise scientific measurements.

10.3 No Warranties

We provide the App "as is" without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of speed limits or sensor data, uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with all devices, or fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Intellectual Property

11.1 App Ownership

MotoSema, including all code, design, graphics, and features, is owned by HEDX Studios and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

11.2 Your Data

You retain ownership of your ride data. We do not claim ownership of your ride history and statistics, location data, sensor readings, or personal settings. Your data is stored locally on your device and remains yours.

11.3 OpenStreetMap Data

Speed limit data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL). The map files MotoSema distributes are a derivative database of OpenStreetMap and are themselves offered under ODbL 1.0. You may download them, along with the tools that build them, at Documents and Data. Regional extracts are sourced from Geofabrik; country boundaries from Natural Earth. See also our Third-Party Notices.

11.4 Trademarks

"MotoSema" and the MotoSema logo are trademarks of HEDX Studios. You may not use these marks without permission.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HEDX Studios and its developers are not liable for:

  • Accidents or injuries resulting from your use of the App
  • Property damage to your motorcycle, device, or other property
  • Traffic violations or legal consequences
  • Inaccurate information provided by the App
  • Device damage from mounting or use while riding
  • Lost or corrupted data
  • Consequential damages of any kind

You use MotoSema at your own risk. We do not guarantee safety, accuracy, or suitability for any purpose. In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. In no event shall our liability exceed the amount you paid for the App (which is currently free).

13. Termination

You may stop using MotoSema at any time by uninstalling the App from your device or deleting your ride data in settings. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App at any time, update these Terms (with notice), and terminate service for violations of these Terms.

Upon termination, these Terms remain in effect for past use, the disclaimer and limitation of liability survive, and your data remains on your device until you delete it.

14. Contact and Support

If you have questions about these Terms, or need technical support, please contact us. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 5 business days.
